Don’t hold me back I’m about to let go
No control getting in the free flow
I can’t take , you’re wasting my time but
I’m on the climb going up up, fly and fly
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
You are so long gone to me
Past-tense you are history
Always talking bout what you used to be but
I’m here living in the present you see
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
You ain’t breaking down my confidence
No sense, so irrelevant
In your mind you were Heaven sent
But to me you came from where the Devil went
You ain’t breaking down my confidence
No sense, so irrelevant
In your mind you were Heaven sent
But to me you came from where the Devil went
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
You thought you always could take control of me but
I’m gonna re-write the story
You tried me once, twice, now you’re trying me again
Making me defend myself now I’m taking offence.
You never thought that I would blow (blow)
But now I guess it’s time you know (know)
You’re playing with my mind
You’re messing with my time
You need to slow it down or you’ll wish that you pressed rewind
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this, doing it, doing it, doing it my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this, doing it, doing it, doing it my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
Step back (hey) because I’m doing this my way, my way
You know you better step back, step back, I’m doing this,
I’m doing it, doing it, doing it my way
My way
My way
My way
I’m doing it, doing it, doing it my way

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
The new one from Zero T & Onj pairs giddy remixes of tracks from last year’s “Kilburn” with new moody drum & bass tracks. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 26, 2023
